TxTag customers save up to 25% on tolls statewide, and there is never a fee for using your tag. Keep in mind that in Austin, there are two different toll authorities,TxDOT/TxTag and Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (Mobility Authority). Without a tag, it can be both costly and confusing.

Warning: Avoid late fees for tolls. Penalties are quite steep, the likes of which have not been seen since the the tale of Rumpelstiltskin!

The good news is that it is easy and convenient to get a tag online. All details and FAQ can be found at the link below.

Thankfully there are multiple options to have someone else behind the wheel.

Chariot

Chariot is reinventing mass transit for commuters, companies, and fun-seekers with fast, reliable, affordable, and comfortable service.

Cap Metro

Cap Metro offers a variety of methods of transportation including bus, rail and commuter vans. No matter the time of day or night, public transportation is an option in Austin.

Cars2Go

One step beyond ridesharing, Cars2Go offers carsharing. You can hop in a car whenever, wherever (with no reservations required).

Ridesharing

Ridesharing started in 2010 with the launch of Uber. Since then, the market has been booming with competition and transportation will forever be changed. Never again will one have the need to stand on a street corner, hold up a hand and yell “Taxi”. Thanks, Uber!
